They hide their truths behind this mask of averages, thriving in the crowd while concealing their pain and stories. As you aptly described, this "tyranny of the mean" not only marginalizes the few in favor of the many but also compels the few to conform. In a world where every voice matters, we often seek safe spaces, masking our true selves when we should be embracing our individuality and sharing our unique experiences.
