Neil reflects on the OIE Model
by Neil Villagonzalo
Reflecting on the time that I was still new to writing my pieces, I didn't know that much yet. There are theories discussed, frameworks given, and tips to apply to my writing. But through time, I was able to practice writing through the exercises and papers given to us by our professors. With this, I was surprised with the way I was able to articulate my vision through the words that I use when I'm writing my pieces. One interesting concept that I was able to discover is that it helps writers to effectively communicate their thoughts on our writing when the first thing we do in the whole process is to reflect on ourselves and find out what we want to deliver. But one disturbing thing that comes with this is the fact that when you open up yourself to your piece, your readers would somehow gain access to you as a person by reading through your piece full of your thoughts and feelings.

With my experience in all the CW classes I've taken, OIE model was the one that retained in mind. I think this model has some really powerful concepts that can be applied to any type of writing which is really helpful for people who want to improve their writing skills.
